RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR

Father Bills & MainSpring is seeking an experienced leader to oversee and direct the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of private donors in collaboration with the CEO and Board of Directors.

Father Bill's Place, founded in 1984, and MainSpring Coalition for the Homeless, incorporated in 1982, joined forces in July 2007 to form a single entity with the goal of ending homelessness in the communities they previously served individually. The merged entity, Father Bills & MainSpring serves the South Shore and Southeastern Massachusetts. The mission of Father Bills & MainSpring is to help homeless people obtain a home by giving temporary shelter and food, finding safe and affordable housing, and providing permanent housing with supportive services. Father Bills & MainSpring helps people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness to achieve self-sufficiency. We are presently seeking a development expert to develop and implement plans to raise private funds for the agency and to manage the marketing, community relations, event planning, and volunteer programs. With a current revenue budget of over $10 million, we are seeking a strategic partner to help grow the private funding from the current one million.

The Director of Development reports to the President/CEO of Father Bills & Mainspring and advises the CEO with respect to trends in fundraising and development, takes leadership of the fundraising portion of the strategic plan, executes annual fundraising events, plans and implements outreach to increase donor base, cultivates new corporate/business contributors and supporters, manages private foundation/corporate grants, and monitors and analyzes outcomes. Areas of responsibility/oversight include community relations, volunteer programs, marketing, public relations, event planning, major gifts, grant writing, and gift processing. As part of the senior management team, the successful candidate will ensure best practices in nonprofit resource development and ensure that the development department systems are operating efficiently and maintained effectively.

We are seeking a dynamic professional with seven or more years of experience in highly productive development programs with significant experience at the management level. The superior candidate will have an excellent major gifts record of accomplishment. He/she will be creative, energetic, and aggressive with an ability to identify and develop opportunities for donors and Father Bills & MainSpring to come together. We are seeking a natural leader who can motivate and inspire volunteers as well as mentor and direct staff. Knowledge of the geographical areas we serve strongly preferred.
